Kitchen Organizing Tips

Last Tuesday was the first week of our 6 Weeks To Fall In Love With Your Home organizing series. The hour long webinar was jam packed and I wanted to share a few things from the webinar. When setting up an organized kitchen for efficiency, we look at 5 areas.

  1. Food Preparation Zone
  2. Cooking Zone
  3. Cleaning Zone
  4. Food Serving Zone
  5. Food Storage Zone

Food Storage Zone

This particular zone includes the refrigerator and the pantry.  When I help clients with the pantry (as this is a common area that needs to be addressed), there isn't one correct way to organize a pantry.  The key to having a pantry organized for you and your family is to have it organized for your needs.  While this pantry is very prettypretty pantry

it doesn't necessarily mean that it is functional.  For my situation with my family and the life we live, this pantry would require me to have the time to take all the food out of the boxes and put them into the containers.  I know how busy we are and I know I couldn't keep up with this. This pantry is not functional for me.

would work for my family.  Why?  Baskets are used to contain items so a box of crackers can easily go into the bin. This particular pantry also uses one of my favorite organizing tools - a tiered rack!

I'm looking forward to hearing how everyone did with the kitchen organizing.  I'm super excited as we'll be tackling closets this week!  From the front closet to the master closet - I'll be covering them all!    There's still time to join in the organizing journey!
