3 Simple Changes to Refresh a Space

February - the month for love!  But how many of you truly love your home?  I mean L-O-V-E your home?  Maybe it's a 90% love you have?  Perhaps it's a 55% love?  If you were to rate your home, what percent would you say that you love your home?I know I've said this before, and I'm going to say it again.  A home is one of the biggest investments we will ever make.  I so strongly believe you should love coming home every.single. day.  So can you say that?  Do you love coming home? While the majority of my clients are going through renovations of some kind, there are some simpler, less expensive ways to refresh a space in your home.  Here are 3 simple changes you can do to refresh a space.

Refresh A Space: Add Colour

If you know me well, this can't be a shock that this is number one on my list.  Of course, changing the paint colour in your home will most likely create the biggest change and can change the entire feel of a room.  From dark and dated to fresh with the right paint colours!refresh a spacerefresh a space                 Before paint                                                                          After paintIf painting is not in the budget, then there are still ways to add colour to a space.

Toss Cushions

This always amazes me that toss cushions, yes pillows, can really add a pop of much needed colour to a space or create a feeling of calm and peacefulness. refresh a space

Maybe it's not peace and calm you're looking for.  Maybe your space needs a splash of colour to liven up the place!  Love the pops of colour below!

Refresh A Space: Rearrange Furniture

This is one of my favourite things to do.  It is common for some people get stuck with this tip.  The reason they get stuck is due to the fact that they have too many pieces of furniture to even move things around.  The other common issue I run across is that the furniture is the wrong size for the space (either too big or too small).  If this is the case for you, the first step is to get rid of some of the pieces that no longer serve your purpose OR are not the correct size for the space.refresh a space

Refresh A Space: Declutter

Live is busy - uh huh - tell me something I don't know.  The quickest and cheapest way to refresh a space is to get rid of all the crap that is not needed in the space.  Tackle the flat surfaces (as they are a magnet for stuff).  Recycle any extra papers, magazines, etc. that you no longer need.  Never leave a room empty handed!I recently was a guest on Global TV Calgary for a Wellness Wednesday guest spot.  I provided a couple of tips to help you in this area.

Refresh A Space

As you can see, you don't necessarily have to tackle a renovation to get a much needed refresh for your space!  I'd love to hear how you have refreshed your space(s).  Please feel free to comment below.
