Shut The Front Door
Let’s consider what buyers see first—the outside of your house. The impression your home gives from the street is called “curb appeal,” and it’s a vital aspect of staging. Curb appeal is what creates the all-important first impression. When buyers first see your house from the street, it only takes about 10 seconds for them to form an opinion. You have to make those 10 seconds count! One way to add that WOW factor is to have your front door look amazing! A fairly inexpensive way to do that is to add color (and possibly new hardware).
Adding Colour
Feng Shui Principals
According to Feng Shui principals, “...the main door is called ‘the mouth of Chi’ and a good feng shui door will attract the highest energy to nourish the house you live in, thus providing you with the most supportive vibrant energy to enjoy your life.”Depending on what direction you face will depend on a good color choice.

Colour Expert
Using the Feng Shui principals to figure out what colour your main door should be, it’s now time to figure out the BEST shade of that colour. Maria Killam, True Colour Expert™ , wrote a blog a couple of years ago titled Ten Best Front Door Colours For Your House. As Maria writes, “Front doors should be an accent colour. In other words, they should be a strong, dramatic, bold shade.”
Hardware
Once you’ve decided on a colour, you may also want to update your hardware.
We had a keyless entry in the condo we rented in Maui and it was a great idea! Not having to worry about lost keys was definitely an added bonus. One little tip: ensure you measure correctly before you purchase anything. Kate, from Centsational Girl, shared her mistake with hardware on her French Door project.
Below are some of my favorite images of front doors adding that WOW factor (not to mention their general curb appeal is amazing)!
As people walk or drive by your home, you want them to take that second look. To have them say, ‘Shut the front door - look at what they did to the front of their home!”So whether you are getting ready to sell or are in need of a little refresh, adding a splash of color to your main front door may be just what the doctor ordered!
