Choosing the Right Paint Color
Choosing the Right Paint Color
When it comes to choosing the right paint color for your home, there are 2 things to consider.
Foundation Palette
If you wish for your home to flow throughout it will be important to figure out what your home's foundation palette is. You really have a 50% chance of getting it right as there are only 2 choices: white or cream.

Fixed Elements
If you have any fixed elements in a room (fixed elements are those that are not easily removed such as cupboards, counters, backsplash, flooring), that will not be changed or removed. Any fixed element that is staying NEEDS to be taken into consideration while choosing colors. You can either work with the fixed elements or you can choose to ignore them.As you can see, the fireplace in this room (a family that I am currently working with) and built-ins are dated. These 2 fixed elements will not be going anywhere with this 'Refresh' project. However, we will be painting it so the reds and browns do not come into play when we choose colours. The dark brown built-ins will also be painted.
The Power of Paint
Although this 'Refresh' project is not completed yet, I couldn't wait to pop over to see the painting of the dark wood panels and the built ins. The built-ins were painted in Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter and the wood panels on the walls were painted Benjamin Moore Spanish White (which is a cream as the home's foundation palette is cream). Floors are going to be installed and then we will have to wait a bit for the custom furniture to arrive. Although the furniture is taking a bit longer than expected, I always encourage clients to never compromise. If something is going to take a bit longer, than be patient and wait. You will never kick yourself by compromising!
