New Project: New Beginnings for a young couple
I have been working with a really nice couple who have just purchased their first new home. To add to all of the excitement, they are expecting their first baby in July. As I always like to name my projects, I'm calling this one 'New Beginnings'
New Beginnings
There are some big changes coming to this home. Let's start with the 'As Is' and what this 4-level split home currently looks like.
Here are a couple of before pictures of the kitchen area.
On the wish list
There are a few items on the wish list for this new project: new beginnings. Some of the items on the list include:
- Open up the main floor/kitchen area.
- Add in a patio door off the kitchen.
- Transform the bedroom in the lower level to a boot room and laundry room
- Refresh the main washroom on the upper level.
Here are the closer looks at the kitchen and laundry room.
We will also be addressing all of the plumbing, electrical, and flooring.
Details
The main floor is where most of our work is going to take place. We plan on taking out one load-bearing wall as well as one non-load bearing wall. This will open up the kitchen to the open area (family room).
We always start with a conceptual design plan. In the conceptual design, I made the cabinets white as that is a request that my clients already know they wish to have.
More to Come
We are currently working on pulling together the construction calendar so that we can start this project. There will be some asbestos removal and remediation that will be taking place, and then we'll be able to get moving on this one!
Unlike the majority of our projects, my clients will be doing some of the work themselves. While I give them full props for taking on a big job (they will be doing all of the painting and all of the millwork), all of our work will be done without any delays.
I look forward to sharing this project with you.
