Master Bath Reveal: From Wonky to Wonderful!

As you may be well aware, I love to name my projects.  When I first had a chance to see this master bathroom, I was amazed at how many wonky corners it had.  Due to the corners, I named this bathroom renovation: 'The Wonky Bathroom'.  Below are a couple of before images of just how wonky the space was.

Wish List & Design

If recently wrote a blog that was all about staying on budget.  The budget that is featured in that blog post is for this exact bathroom.  There were a couple of items on my clients' list that they really wanted:

  1. New shower.
  2. Somewhere for laundry to go.

I also knew that there was no room in the budget to move any walls to enlarge this space.  Knowing the two main wishes, I came up with the following renderings:

SHOWER

My main goal was to steer away from another neo-angle shower.  Don't get me wrong - there is nothing wrong with one.  In this particular space however, there was room to create a much larger shower.master bath reveal

VANITY

In my design plan, I really wanted to get rid of the wonky corner and angle.  Although there is still an angle and a bulkhead that we needed to work around, creating a straight wall allowed me to fit in a pull-out laundry drawer for my client.  Although there is a little bit of 'dead space' (to the left of the sink), we decided to close that off and have a false front instead of having some useless, open shelving that would be a dust collector.  To manipulate the budget, a beautiful luxury laminate counter was specified (instead of a granite or quartz counter).master bath reveal

The Reveal

I always get excited for reveal time!  So without further adieu, here is the Wonky - I mean WONDERFUL, master bathroom! All photos were taken by the Ruth Skiffington Photography.master bath reveal

I utilized one wonky corner to make a larger shower for my clients.

Glass sliding shower doors and a built in niche provide more than enough room.

The counter?  That's luxury laminate I talked about above.

Final Thoughts

Although there were a few little curve-balls thrown during this renovation, everything turned out just as I envisioned and planned.  I think the best part of this project has been working with such amazing clients who took the curve-balls in stride.  One of my favourite memories was when Mrs. Client saw the counter for the first time.  I feel truly blessed that Mr. and Mrs. Client put their trust in me to design a new master bath for their home.Sheri Bruneau Get It Together
