Timeless Design | How to achieve this in your home
When it comes to designing spaces, you may have heard of the phrase timeless design. What is exactly is timeless design and what does it mean to you?
Timeless design has many meanings. Here are some meanings that you may have heard of.
- It will stand the test of time.
- The design that will never go out of style.
- Using something you have always had in your home that you can repurpose and reinvent it.
For the purpose of this blog, I'm going to touch on two of the above.
Metals that will stand the test of time
Metals can be timeless, as long as you may wise choices. As I write this, the trending two metals that I continue to see are gold and black. While these are super hot right now, they are considered a trend which means they will eventually go out of style. Remember what was being installed in the 1980's? Can we say hello brass fixtures - I'm looking at you!
One of my favourite timeless metals also happens to land in the most 'budget' conscious' category. I'm talking about chrome.
Chrome Faucets | Design that will never go out of style
Most faucets actually start off either being stainless steel or brass (a copper alloy). To make this brass more attractive, it receives a non-reactive metal coat. The most budget friendly metal finish is chrome and in my books, is a timeless finish. It has been around for ages and you will never know, other than the style of the faucet, how old the faucet it.
When looking at a faucets, you want to be looking at simplicity in design. Simplicity in the design of the faucet meaning one that isn't too sleek and modern, yet one that isn't clunky. I've rounded up a few timeless chrome faucets that would fall in my category of timeless. For these faucets, I've also selected brands that I know, love, and trust to be timeless in the quality. Yes - something that will stand the test of time. I have also added a variety of price points as well.

Mixing Finishes - Elevating Things
Another way to work with finishes is to mix them. Yes - you heard what I said. Why stick with 'builder grade' selections of one finish. Strategically mixing finishes will give you an elevated look!
When you mix finishes, it also not going to be easy to readily identify what year your home was built or renovated. Here are a few examples of some mixed materials that would fall into the 'timeless' category.
