Powder Room - We're packing a punch in this space

Last week, I wrote about a master bathroom that we are going to start in the new year. For this same family, we are also going to refresh their powder room.

Powder Room As Is

For this particular space, we are faced with a few challenges.

  1. There is a very tight angle that we need to work around.
  2. The existing window has glass blocks which will not change.
  3. There is no room for a plumbing wall so we are limited with some choices.

Here is what the powder room currently looks like.

Powder Room As Is | 32 sq ft

The Wants and Wishes

This powder room is located on the main floor and can be seen from a number of views. The Mrs. would like this space to be pretty. We know we will be replacing the tile floor with new tile, but the rest - oh, I get to be as creative as I want.

Since this space is only 32 square feet, I have a lot in my favour, including if I wanted to splurge I don't have a huge area to do so! A small area means it is lighter on the budget. That's a total win!

Powder Room Option 1

  • For the first option, since storage was not high on the list for this room, I opted for an open shelf concept. Not having a solid vanity will help make this space feel spacious.
  • I selected a very nice vessel sink and vessel faucet.
  • I sourced out a very pretty mirror with very feminine vibe.
  • The light is also quite feminine in style.
  • Finally, I chose wallpaper for this entire space.
  • This space has all of the fixtures in a brushed nickel (for now).

The one thing that is still on my list is a window covering for those darn glass blocks!

Powder Room Option 2

For this option, I chose the following:

  • For this option, I chose a floating vanity. The colour of the vanity relates to the wallpaper.
  • I selected a beautiful wide spread faucet in a gold finish.
  • I sourced out a very pretty mirror with few curves.
  • The light is also very feminine in style.
  • Finally, I chose wallpaper for this entire space. This space has all of the fixtures in a gold (for now).

Just like Option 1, I still need to figure out what I'm going to do with the glass block window.

Powder Room Splurges

Since the space is so small, there are a couple of areas where a 'splurge' could happen:

  • the wallpaper
  • the sink/faucet
  • the light

You may have noticed I have not paid a lot of attention to the flooring. Since the floor is so small, and is NOT the star of this space at all, my hope is that we will use something small in scale and something very neutral to allow the other stars (features) to shine.

Wallpaper

You may notice that for both options, I have specified wallpaper for the powder room. This space is just screaming for wallpaper! While I have sourced two different wallpapers from my trade only sources, I have rounded up a few of my favourite wallpapers that you could source on your own.
