Packing up to move

Moving house: Young woman having funSo the moment has arrived, it’s time to move out, let the tedious job of packing commence!Feeling a little stressed out about the whole packing process right now? Don't worry many people do; it’s completely normal to feel like that especially when you are faced with a situation you know is going to be hectic, crazy and probably more than likely extremely lengthy too.So, bearing that in mind, a few hints and tips, knowing where to get started, where to find the right help and how best to pack certainly wouldn't go amiss, surely? Let’s go!

Tips

Enough Time

To start with make sure you allow enough time to do a thorough job of the packing, this means no last minute packing and certainly no throwing it all in a box at the very last minute because you may live to regret that later!  On some occasions you may not have time.  This is unfortunate but there are people who do face this situation so it needs to be addressed. If you have to get out the property within a week or even days due to whatever reasoning, it could be eviction, the owner wants to sell or it could be due to maintenance of the property or something else you may NOT have the quality time you require to do a thorough job of the packing so what do you do? Well you could ask friends and family to help but at such short notice it may be a problem trying to get everyone together, people usually need more time to make available, especially if they work or have other commitment to attend to.

Packing Services

Ever thought about hiring a packing service?  For those who don't know or who may never have heard of one, they are services which are offered to clients. It is a paid service however often a very competitive one. It’s very helpful for clients who do not have time to pack or who are not very good at packing but also it adds other benefits too. It generally comes with insurance so that all of your treasured belongings remain protected throughout the whole moving process. To find out more about a packing service within your local area, search on line for your nearest moving companies and ask for a quote. Many packing services will send a surveyor to your property to get an exact estimate of the quote but this usually free of charge to the client so it’s well worth accepting; at least you get an accurate quote for the job and are able to decide whether or not it suits your budget.

Packing DIY

Would rather do the packing yourself perhaps?  That’s fine, when you know how! Ensure that you have some good quality packing supplies available because the packed boxes will be stacked in the moving van and they will be lifted and carried by the professional movers, many times throughout the moving day. Cheap and tatty boxes risk bursting open or being squashed and this could be disastrous for its contents.  When packing a box, make sure they are always labelled so that the man with a van is aware of valuables; breakables etc and know which boxes need to be handled with extra care.  Don’t pack too tight; don’t pack too loose, try to pack in between! Try to distribute the weight evenly within the boxes and fill empty spaces with packing fillers such as bubble wrap or newspaper because you want everything to be secure but without being squashed together.Feeling ready to pack now?
