ONE ROOM CHALLENGE™ WEEK 4: THE PRETTY PLUMBING
We are into Week 3 of the One Room Challenge™ and so far, so good. Demo is complete along with the rough -in plumbing and rough-in electrical. The dirty and messy work of drywall is about to begin. Wish me luck!

If you are new to what the One Room Challenge™ is, it is an event for the design community. The ORC™ is currently in its thirteenth season, and this challenge is a widely anticipated biannual event every April and October. Every Wednesday, the designers document their process while sharing their sources and professional advice over the eight weekly posts. You can see all of the participants here.
This spring, Apartment Therapy is the official media sponsor as well!
PLUMBING CHANGES
As I mentioned in Week 3, we are adding in the following plumbing changes to our master bathroom.
Addition of a bidet toilet.
In the shower, we will have a main rain-head along with a handheld shower arm.
We are going from one sink to two.
Stand alone soaker bathtub. Framing | Drywall
BIDET
While the Mister is not exactly on board with this, I may have made this decision on my own. And to be truthful, the Mister has not experienced a bidet before so he’s a little bit sceptical.
For our bathroom, we already have a new toilet so I have chosen to go with a TOTO® Washlet.
TOTO® Washlet
High-tech electronic bidet seat
Gentle aerated, warm water
Dual Action spray with oscillating and pulsating feature
Adjustable water temperature and volume
Warm air drying with three variable temperature settings
Automatic air deodorizer
Convenient slim wireless remote, with illuminated touchpad
EWATER+ auto cleans wand
On-demand remote function cleans the wand with EWATER+
Elongated heated seat with temperature control
PREMIST® on bowl before each use
SINK/TUB FAUCETS
We love to work with many brands and one of the brands we love is Kohler. Kohler does a fabulous job educating designers and keeping us up to date with the current trends along with sharing their product knowledge.
In designing many bathrooms, I’m fortunate enough to see many design styles. And while you think it would be easy for me to select faucets, it was actually a challenging time. While my first choice was not an option due to the very long lead times, I selected the Purist line for our faucets. There were two design elements that drew me to the Purist line: the little touch of feminine roundedness and the clean, minimalistic design.

Kohler Purist® Widespread Faucet for our vanity.
SHOWER COMPONENTS
Just like we enjoy working with Kohler, we equally enjoy working with House of Rohl. For our shower, I have selected a line that compliments the Purist® line that Kohler has to offer. And yes - I am mixing and matching brands. It’s easy to do as our finish will be in Chrome (more on why I selected that in an upcoming post).

BATHTUB
I can not tell you the number of times we have specified Maax for bathtubs in our projects. I love that Maax offers a good variety of styles to select from in various sizes. I also love that their price points are also very reasonable. For our bathtub, I have selected a line that I have chosen many times over.
