Master Bath Makeover Sneak Peek
We are gearing up for a master bath makeover and have been busy pulling things together for this project.
The As Is
We always start with how a space currently looks. For this master bathroom, this couple has a double sink, a small shower, and of course, the toilet.
This master bathroom has my clients walking through their closet area to get to the bathroom. Here is the 'As Is'.
Currently, there is a his/hers closet, a double sink vanity, and a small shower.
The Master Bath Makeover Plan
We always love to give our clients options. Prior to designing the options, we do discuss what the wishes are for the new space. Some items that were on the list:
- A steam shower
- Tile floor
- One sink
Master Bath Makeover Option 1
Our first option typically works with the same footprint that we are given. We like to do this for clients, especially in a bathroom, to save on the plumbing budget. You can get a lot of bang for your buck by not changing locations. Here is what was presented for Option 1.
Master Bath Makeover Option 2
For this option, we moved things around! Since there was a little cubby area, and my clients only wished to have one sink, this made a great opportunity to move things. This option also provides the opportunity to add in a small, tall linen closet providing more useable storage for my clients.
Decisions, decisions, decisions
When it comes to looking at the options, we do look at the ramifications of each design. Option 1 has less plumbing involved while Option 2 has a lot of plumbing. This, of course, does affect the investment.
It's important, at this stage, to really look at the investment, but also look at how the space is going to be used. While everyone has a limit on the investment they wish to make, most people will renovate and remodel and keep that space for many years.
In the end, my clients chose to go with Option 2. This gives them a really nice sized shower (that will be a steam shower), a seperate space to get ready (at the sink), and the additional storage space.
The Pretty
Putting things all together can be a stress for clients. So many decisions, so many choices. It's easy to make one little mistake.
Together, we made selections for the flooring (wood looking tile), shower tile and an accent (shower floor and niche tile).
Here are a couple of concept boards I've pulled together for my clients with some 'pretty options'.
The End Result
We are set to start this project on August 31st. Our clients decided to tackle on some of the demolition so we'll have a head start when we officially start! I hope you'll join me over on Instagram to see all of the progress with this one.
Shop the Look
While I spend time curating a special look for my clients, I thought it would be fun to pull together a new mood board that you could use in your home.
