4 benefits when you hire an Interior Designer
When I met Sally, there were a couple of things on her list:
- A bathroom overhaul.
- A kitchen refresh.
- New interior paint for the entire home.

4 Benefits when you hire an Interior Designer
When I met with Sally, as I do with all of my clients, I go over the ways I can benefit their future renovation and investment they are making in their home.
Planning
Interior Designers are all about planning. When you hire an Interior Designer, they are going to plan out your space. They are going to make sure that everything is thought of prior to that hammer ever being swung. In the image below, there are specific measurements as to where the sconce lighting should go, where the mirror should hang, etc for her bathroom.
Sourcing
When you hire an Interior Designer, we have access to stores and products that may not be accessible to the general public. For some people, having a 'big box store' faucet is not the end of the world. For other clients, they do not wish to see that in their space.As an Interior Designer, I am constantly looking for and sourcing for my projects. I know what is 'hot', what is 'trendy', and what is new. That doesn't happen overnight. That takes consistent time to continually educate and learn. I'm glad that I love learning - as this profession is never ending with new product and lines!For Sally, she had a clear vision of what she liked. The sourcing didn't take very long because I knew where to look and what price range to look for. When Sally and I met and we hammered out her choices, there was a sigh of relief that we were able to pick out items that not only fit her style but also fit her budget!
Managing
I know there are some Interior Designers who do not manage their own projects - and there is nothing wrong with that. I happen to be one that does manage my own projects. You can call it being organized, you can call it being a control freak, or you can call it wishing to see a project start and end! I have written a number of blogs on managing a renovation. RENOVATION TIMELINE: WHAT I LEARNED WHEN I DIDN’T CREATE ONE FOR MY OWN PROJECT.
When you hire an Interior Designer who manages their own project, you know you will be getting someone who knows the processes of a renovation. They know the 'order' that should occur during a renovation. They know who should be coming and who should be going.For Sally, she works full-time. During her time working, we worked on her townhouse to have it completed in 2 1/2 weeks! Yes - her entire scope of the project was completed in less than 3 weeks. Why? Because I had my shit together. I had everything planned.
The End Result
This is where it really shines through when you hire an Interior Designer. Your space is fully finished. There are no loose ends, there are no little jobs that are left out. And the space is beautiful! For Sally's bathroom and the rest of her townhouse, everything came together so nicely.
- The undertones in the tile work with her existing carpet (that you can see from the bathroom).
- The counter on the vanity works with the floor and wall tile. (again - the undertones work!)
- The interior wall colour works not only in the bathroom but it also works with all of the other fixed elements in the townhouse.
- The new quartz kitchen counter works well with her existing cabinets and flooring.
- The new backsplash works with the new quartz counters, the existing cabinets, and the existing flooring.
There is a lot that goes into the picking out finishes to ensure they work and flow with the rest of the house. There wasn't one choice that was made without thinking of the entire townhouse.Let's let the pictures tell the story!
